BCCI awards are one way of recognizing the finest on-field performances right from the age group to senior level and also legends will be honoured. This is an important feature in the cricketing calendar. The awards have got bigger and better with the introduction of four new categories- highest run getter and wicket takers and best international debut men and women. A total of 25 awards will be presented.
India’s leading fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and Poonam Yadav is all set to recieve the top BCCI awards. Bumrah was in an excellent form in the test cricket for the 18/19 season, he picked up 21 wickets from the 4 games in Australia, and took 13 wickets at a staggering 9.23 in the 2 tests in the Caribbean, which included a hat-trick. Apart from that he has taken a haul of 18 wickets from the nine matches in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. He was named the recipient of the Polly Umrigar Award.
Meanwhile, Poonam Yadav was honoured with the top prize in women’s section and will be awarded with the Best International Cricketer. The award will be another feature in the leg spinner’s cap who recently recieved the Arjuna Award.
The legends like Former Indian Captain Kris Srikanth and Anjum Chopra will also be awarded for their excellence in their respective careers.
